    The Gold Standard in Wool

New Zealand produces some of the cleanest, softest wool in the world. High-welfare, free-roaming flocks graze naturally in the cooler Southern Hemisphere climate, giving us a consistent, premium-grade fibre. Just one of the reasons we exclusively source our wool from trusted New Zealand farmers. (For more information about New Zealand's farming and environmental standards visit our 'Help' section).

Exceptional wool begins with exceptional conditions.

    Made for the Wash

Sock Flock yarn is Superwash-treated to Woolmark standard, so there’s no need to hand wash — just machine-wash your finished pieces at up to 40°C. They’ll hold their shape, softness, and stitch clarity wash after wash, with no shrinking, felting or fuzzing.

Reassuring for every knitter. Practical for everyday life.

Soft & Strong (A Rare Combination)

New Zealand’s cool, temperate climate produces fleece with exceptional fibre density and length — the foundation of its remarkable quality. New Zealand wool is naturally soft, but also surprisingly tough. Its fine, springy fibres produce crisp stitches, breathable fabric, and a finish that holds up to wear.

Beautiful in the hand, dependable on the foot.

    The Power of Polyamide

To make great socks, wool needs backup. That’s why we add 25% polyamide (Nylon-6) — a strong, flexible fibre that adds stretch, shape, and staying power. It blends invisibly into the yarn, keeping your stitches sharp and your socks lasting longer.

And it’s also why your large items won’t come out of the washing machine as mediums.

    Wool You Can Trust

Every batch of our wool is passed by the New Zealand Wool Testing Authority (NZWTA), where fibre strength, length, crimp, and cleanliness are measured against strict industry standards. Only the best wool makes it through to spinning.

New Zealand is also home to the world’s first national wool traceability assurance programme — a system designed to verify origin, promote ethical sourcing, and protect the integrity of its wool industry. We build on that foundation of trust by certifying the finished yarn to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, ensuring it’s completely free from harmful chemicals and safe for even the most sensitive skin — including babies and pets.

Tested for quality. Certified for peace of mind.

    A Note on Knots

Each 120g ball of Sock Flock yarn contains 420m of continuous yarn — a generous length that helps you go further but increases the chance of a knot or join. Our supplier inspects every ball, and we visually check again before we ship.  Even so, knots can happen — it’s part of the nature of mill-wound yarn.

If a ball doesn’t meet your expectations, just let us know. We’ll replace it — no quibbles.
